Learn, Play, Grow…

Safely Together.

Building bonds between Children and Dogs…

One lesson at a time.

More than 2 million children are bitten by dogs each year in America. The Humane Society estimates 51% of dog bite victims are children, and those between the ages of 5 and 9 are most likely to be bitten by a dog.

Golden Hour’s mission is to promote safe, positive and respectful interactions with dogs through positive reinforcement training, and strives to help pet owners understand their dogs body language and what they are trying to communicate along the way. Having the opportunity for children to learn these important aspects, in a fun and easy way they will understand, would make them the kind of friend a dog’s thankful to have!

Golden Hour is excited to offer a special class just for kids! Paws for Safety lessons are an amazing chance for children to learn the importance of dog safety from a certified trainer, with instruction promoting safe interactions and how to respect boundaries. Paws for Safety workshops include a presentation, story and game designed to keep children engaged and excited to learn, making them “Dog Safety” experts! So let's em”bark” together on a journey to responsible pet ownership and a lifetime of joyful interactions with all of the dogs we meet along the way!

Stay tuned for future class dates and locations!

Golden Hour offers two presentation types with age appropriate curriculum.

One for ages 4-8, and another for ages 9-12!

Children 4-8 will listen to a presentation on dog safety, respectful greetings and how to read dog body language, followed by a story called “May I Pet Your Dog?” They also become official experts with a round of Dog Body Language BINGO to test what they’ve learned!

Children 9-12 will listen to a presentation on dog safety, respectful greetings, and how to read dog body language. They will also learn what it means to be a dog trainer, how Golden Hour got started, and how they too can become a trainer some day if interested! After the presentation, they will play a game of Dog Trivia to test what they’ve learned!
