OUR MISSION

At Golden Hour, we believe in fostering harmonious relationships between dogs and their owners through positive reinforcement training. Our mission is to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where dogs of all breeds, ages, and backgrounds can thrive. We uphold a judgment-free philosophy, recognizing that each dog is unique and deserving of patience, respect, and understanding. Through our innovative training methods, we aim to make learning pure fun for both dogs and their owners. We prioritize positive reinforcement techniques due to scientific research proving they’re most effective, with the result of trust, confidence, and cooperation that’s built to last. We ensure every interaction is filled with encouragement and praise, making Golden Hour a loving and safe space everyone can enjoy.

“Golden Hour is dedicated to the golden’s in my life that have shaped and inspired me to do better, BE better, for the sake of all dogs. I’ve never not loved a dog I’ve met, but it’s the goldens in my life that have motivated me to take the steps to become a certified trainer and truly do what I love. My goal is for training sessions to feel like the best hour of your day and to help you see your dog in a “New Light” when you’re done.

For Bruno, Macie, Bella, Zoey and Ruby,

Golden Hour is for you, for being everything you were and continue to be, for me."

-Emily Moore, Owner and Trainer behind Golden Hour

The Paws Behind The Mission

Bruno was the first golden I ever met. He belonged to my great grandfather and is in some of my earliest memories as a child. I always loved how his favorite place to relax was right in the cool dirt under my grandparents front porch. He was never unhappy, I swear. You’ll see me in my earliest days, arm wrapped around Bruno, both of us smiling. Who knew he was the start of an obsession. Ha!

My family got Macie when I was around 8 years old. Part Red Lab, part Golden Retriever, and 100% just amazing. She loved our family big and would be so content in her spot in the front yard under a shade tree. She also played hide n’ seek better than anyone, was a huge foodie, and was absolutely adored by the entire family. The day she passed away was one of the hardest experiences, but I was beyond thankful she got to be ours.

In 2011, shortly before Christmas, my best and most loyal friend came into my life. My sweet Bella. She was the greatest gift my parents could have ever given me, and it was the first time I had a dog that was completely mine. Her and I have learned so much from each other, and its remarkable to think I have had her before I even met my husband. We traveled the country twice together, have loved and lost together, and she’s been there from when it was just me at 18, to me now in my 30’s with a family. A lot changes in 13 years, but her love has been constant and she is my biggest inspiration everyday to do better.

I would then go on to get my second Golden, Zoey, in 2014. She was my saving grace upon moving to California, for Bella and I knew no one. She was exactly what we needed. Unfortunately at the young age of 5, she was diagnosed with cancer, and a year later would reside over the rainbow bridge. I swear my hearts never been the same, but I think that is just the price we pay to receive such an unconditional love. Zoe was the dog everyone would beg to have after they met her. The kind my family and friends to this day will still say, “Man she was the best dog". Just the absolute best girl, and I miss her immensely.

2 years had passed and Bella and I were still feeling the hole Zoe left in our hearts. Bella especially. The lack of a friend who truly spoke her language in the home I could tell was wearing on her. That was when I decided on my third Golden, Ruby! Ruby has been the definition of velcro. Very rarely is she not by my side or Bellas. She is such an eager to learn girl who absolutely loves training. Getting Ruby was life changing for Bella, and also for me. She was the spark I needed to pursue this path, and I without a doubt, know she was “paw” picked for our family by Zoe.

Golden Hour is my dedication to them, for all they have taught me and for being the motivation to keep doing what I love.

They’re the paws behind the mission and I am forever thankful for them.
